David Zetland and the 20/80 Rule

An amusing video from David Zetland here.

But more importantly he describes the 20/80 rule:

I use the term "20/80 rule" to separate the 20 percent who want to do the right thing from the 80 percent who don't care, but who WILL pay attention to higher prices

The thing I notice is "Conserve water so our farmers can grow food."

Every time I see them digging up that rich, black Minnesota loam for a new housing development, or a grain elevator so full in May that they've still got corn piled up four stories high _outside_, I can't help but wonder what weird confluence of events led to us growing food in a desert and ethanol on some of the richest farm land in the world.
